Spring is Here

Hello everybody, 

春がきていて虫がブンブン飛んでいて花々が綺麗に咲いています。そして一日何回かクモの巣が顔に引っ付きます．．．気持ちいい時期ですよね。今回「春」をテーマにして、色々表現を紹介しようと思っています。

1. “April showers bring May flowers.”
   訳：「４月の雨は５月の花を咲かせる」
   この文では、「shower」が雨という意味をします。まあまあ良くある言い方です。４月頃に、人が雨について文句を言う時は、これがよくある返事です。「雨をネガティブに考えるのをやめて、もっとポジティブに考えた方が良いよ」という意味もあります。
   例：A: I’m sick of all this rain lately. // B: Well, you know what they say…April showers bring May flowers…
2. “Spring is in the air.”
   訳：「春の気配がする・春の証拠が見えてきている・春の雰囲気がする」
   「～ is in the air」は時々出てくる表現です。上記に書いたように「～の雰囲気がする」という意味をします。「Tension（緊張）/ Excitement（わくわく感）/ Love（愛情）/ Change（変化）is in the air」 という他の使い方もあります。
   例：The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the bees are buzzing…spring is in the air!
3. “Spring has sprung.”
   訳：「春は始まった」
   「Spring」は「春」という意味もあれば、名詞の「ばね」か動詞の「弾む」という意味もあります。この文では、「sprung」は動詞の方の過去分詞です。この表現は、植物が緑になって花が咲いたというイメージです。
   例：The plants are green, the flowers are blooming, and the weather is getting warmer every day. Spring has definitely sprung!
4. Spring fever
   訳：長い冬の後、春の始まりに感じる興奮感。
   例：By the end of February, I usually have a case of spring fever. I can’t stop thinking about all the things I want to do when the weather gets nicer.
