Yard Work

Recently, I have been spending a lot of my free time doing yard work.
Over the summer, our field became very overgrown with weeds. Some of the weeds were almost as tall as I am! Starting about a month ago, I began cutting one section at a time.
It was so hot outside that I could only cut the weeds in the late afternoon after the sun had gone behind the mountains. Even in the shade, it was still very hot. I always looked like I had jumped into a river with my clothes on after finishing.
I have a battery-powered weed wacker with two batteries. Each battery lasts for about 20-30 minutes. So, at the most, I only have about an hour before I have to stop. For that reason, it took me several weeks to cut our whole field.
Anyway, by the time I had finished cutting the back section of the field, enough time had passed for the front section to fill with weeds again! Even the seasons seemed to have changed: from the intolerable heat of summer to cooler autumn weather. By this point, I was developing a bit of an obsession with cutting the grass. Finally, on Sunday, I finished after once again cutting the front section (even continuing after darkness had fallen).
Having tasted victory in the field, I was motivated to move on to other yard work. The next day, I decided to trim the bushes and trees. I got out my long garden shears and my pruning shears and spent all morning until 1 pm trimming everything in sight. Then, after the sun had gone behind the mountains that evening, I went back outside to pick weeds in the parking lot. The pile of weeds that resulted was something to behold.

最近、僕は暇な時間をほとんど庭仕事に使っています。
夏の間に、うちの畑が雑草だらけになってしまいました。中には僕と同じくらい背の高い草もあったんです！1か月くらい前から、区切って少しずつ草刈りを始めました。
ただ、外はとても暑くて、山に日が隠れる夕方にならないと作業ができませんでした。日陰でもやはりかなり暑くて、終わったあとはまるで服を着たまま川に飛び込んだみたいにびしょ濡れになっていました。
僕の草刈り機は充電式で、バッテリーが2つあります。一つのバッテリーで20〜30分ほどしか持たないので、せいぜい1時間くらいしか作業できません。そのため、畑全体を刈るのに何週間もかかりました。
そして、ようやく畑の奥まで刈り終えたと思ったら、その頃にはもう手前の方にまた雑草が生えてきていました。季節も変わったようで、あれほど耐えられない暑さだった夏から、すっかり秋の涼しい気候になっていました。その頃には草刈りに少し夢中になっていて、日曜日には暗くなってからも作業を続けて、もう一度手前の部分を全部刈り終えました。
畑で勝利の味を知った僕は、他の庭仕事にもやる気が出てきました。次の日は木や植木の剪定をすることにして、大きなハサミと剪定バサミを出し、午前中から午後1時までずっと trimming を続けました。その日の夕方、また山に日が隠れてからは駐車場の雑草抜きをしました。結果としてできあがった雑草の山は、なかなかの見ものになりました。
